Sara Price

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Sara Price on Monday, July 20, 2009 after long enduring cancer.

Sara De Sousa Price was born August 6, 1972 to parents Jose and Irene De Sousa in Paris, France.  She grew up in France, Belgium, and Portugal. She spent summers at the family home in Portugal. Always proud of her Portuguese heritage Sara embraced herself as a citizen of Europe enjoying many cultures. Her curiosity transcended her life to know, learn, and make a difference. She became a big sister at the age of seven when baby Carolina arrived.

When Sara finished school, she moved to Grenoble to attend the university where she studied Business Administration. After graduating, she returned to Paris and to her family where she began working at Lotus.  It was there that she met Don Price. After Sara’s invitation to the ballet, they began a friendship that bloomed into true love.  After a marriage proposal under the Eiffel Tower, they married May of 2002 in Boston, Massachusetts. Sara then worked with the founders of Seligence in creating a new company bringing her own unique perspective to this new American company.

Over the next several years, Sara maintained relationships even from a distance and formed new ones in the United States.  Sara touched many with her inclusiveness, finding an eclectic network of friends and professional acquaintances. She made and kept long term friends keeping in touch, sharing her conversation, charm of living life and nurturing others. Thinking of others, living across cultures, and having a passion for any story whether in a movie, television, or one shared by a friend. She traveled regularly, visiting family and friends.  She never forgot a birthday, nor arrived at someone’s home empty handed. In 2007, she and Don bought a home in Vermont that became her sanctuary away from the city.

It was easy to forget that Sara had cancer because her spirit was enduring and lively. She always thought about what she could accomplish as opposed to what she could not.  Until the end, she was chiefly concerned about others.  Her love triumphed over all, including the insufferable disease that eventually robber her of her life.

As we reflect on her passing, we must remember her life. Let us strive to imitate her concern for others, her sense of humor, her love of children, her enduring strength and ultimately her zest for life.

Sara is survived by her husband Don Price of Boston, parents Jose and Irene De Sousa of Lisbon, Sister Carolina Brunn of Munich, grandparents Rita and Marile, and family in France, and Portugal.

Donations in her honor may be made to the American Cancer Society. Condolences should be sent to Don Price at don@donprice.com or 47 Harvard ST, #A103, Charlestown, MA 02129
